Australia Day 9 - The Grand 'Ole Opra House

Alternate title: Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

Stan and Pete accompanied us to Sydney for the day. We left at 7:15 am for the two and half hour train ride to Sydney. It was the first time several of us had been ridden on a train. So far on this trip, we have been on planes, trains and automobiles.

Pete prayed for good weather. It has been a rainy week in Sydney. Stan said it would be great if the rain held off until we got back to the train station at the end of the day. Stan and I sat together and talked during the entire trip. He is truly a great man. He has been a Christ-follower for over 30 years.

Saw some amazing sights. The Harbor Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. Went to Paddy’s Market to buy some souvenirs.

We took LOTS of pictures.

On the trip back to Thornton, we saw another double rainbow. Donna said it was like God had tied this day up in a big bow for us. We also saw some wild kangaroos in the fields from the train on the way home.

I got a little sunburned again today. All together, we spent 6 hours in Sydney. It is a beautiful, beautiful city. We so enjoyed our time with Pete and Stan and we were so grateful for their company. Stan and Pam and driving to Sydney again tomorrow to pick up their son, Chris.

This is probably the most tired we’ve been. The time has absolutely flown by. It’s hard to believe we only have two days left before we leave.

These Aborigine dudes cracked me up! Check out
the table on the left. They're selling CD's of their
Didgeridoo music for ten bucks.
Everybody's got product
these days.

This group of Asian students asked to take a photo with Jon and James.
We couldn't decide if they just liked their blonde hair or if they thought they were
meeting the Hagger Twins from Hee Haw.
This guy was walking around INSIDE THE MALL at the food court where we ate. No one seemed to mind. He was picking up stray french fries.
